It should be doable, Ernie. The average number of carbon atoms in the Vaseline hydrocarbons is around 25 with the longer chain ones beginning to act more like wax than jelly. So there should be a way. I'll be in San Francisco later today and back to annoy people in a few days. Monona

Don't we need some experimental data on the reactivity of Vaseline vs O2 pressure and temperature? In the "old days" we would generate such data - perhaps even in the absence of a grant! Doesn't anybody "out there" generate basic data for the fun of it? It seems to me that such an investigation could be easily carried out as a class project in a chemical engineering department? Am I wrong?
