There will be just an 8 day overlap between the arrival of Dr. Katherine Lemos as the new Chair of the CSB and the departure of Dr. Kristen Kulinowski, whose 5-year term was originally going to end in August 2020. If anybody is interested, there will be a scheduled quarterly meeting of the CSB tomorrow at 11:00 AM EDT - details of a phone-in number are available on the CSB website.

Washington D.C, April 27, 2020 ‰?? Board Member Kulinowski announced today that she is resigning from her term as board member effective close of business May 1, 2020.
Member Kulinowski said, ‰??Being part of the CSB has been the honor of a lifetime. I thank the talented staff, who work tirelessly to advance the mission of the agency, my fellow members, from whom I learned so much, our stakeholders, whose support was critical to our continued success, and all the safety professionals who dedicate their efforts to creating safer workplaces. Though I very much would have enjoyed a greater overlap in working with Dr. Lemos, through the end of my term in August, I have an exciting opportunity outside of government. I am fully confident in Dr. Lemos' ability to lead the agency.
The CSB is an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical incidents. The agency's board members are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. CSB investigations look into all aspects of chemical accidents, including physical causes such as equipment failure as well as inadequacies in safety management systems.
The Board does not issue citations or fines but does make safety recommendations to plants, industry organizations, labor groups, and regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA. Please visit our website, www.CSB.gov.
