Here again, I know of Texas schools who have made no generator status determination at all. And I in a recent case, one has an industrial waste water permit issued on the basis of what they were doing a year after the school opened when they taught a few drawing courses. Since then, they have added dozens of toxic waste generating processes.
And don't think the POTWs care either. When I asked one in another southern state for a users discharge limits because we were doing a major renovation there, I was told "Lady, it's none of your damn business." This POTW hadn't done the required calculations for the limits of their system either.
Welcome to reality.

Subject: Re: [DCHAS-L] Chemical Waste Handling
How your waste is handled falls under EPA (as well as OSHA). Procedures for adding waste to containers, storage, and accumulation depends entirely on your generator status - large, small or very small (conditionally exempt). Until you know that, there is no point diving into details.
All
Can some one lead me to resources on how waste is collected and handled in teaching labs. There is some debate going on at my school. We do not have a chemical hygiene officer. Chemical waste falls under the Emergency Response Manager. She did not like our
use of carboys with safety funnels, (labeled separated into aqueous, acid, organic and halogenated organic) in hoods and asked that we keep waste in closed containers in the cabinets beneath the hoods. I can see problems with this but do not know where to
go for authoritative background.
