Dear Mark, In the mid-1990s immediately after a major earthquake in Kobe, Japan, I worked with a major U.S.-based corporation that had a large, high-rise laboratory building there that suffered extensive damage. My firm planned a new laboratory facility for this corporation in another major earthquake zone in China. They had many lessons-learned that we used to guide up in our design decisions for the new facility. If you are interested in their insights, I'd be able to communicate to you directly. Contact me at my email please.Best regards,Janet Baum, AIA, Fellow DCHASLaboratory Architect (retired)--- For more information about the DCHAS-L e-mail list, contact the Divisional membership chair at membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchasOn Fri, Apr 20, 2018 at 6:39 PM, Turner, Mark O (DOH) <mark.turner**At_Symbol_Here**doh.wa.gov> wrote:--- For more information about the DCHAS-L e-mail list, contact the Divisional membership chair at membership**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Follow us on Twitter **At_Symbol_Here**acsdchasGreetings,
I am working on putting together some laboratory earthquake preparedness training and was wondering if anyone out there has some good pictures of labs after an earthquake they are willing to share. Also, if you have any pictures of controls you use to reduce debris during an earthquake that would also be appreciated.
The audience for this will not be building new labs or doing major remodeling, but instead the focus is on things that can be done in a working laboratory to keep lab workers safe during an earthquake. Thank you for any assistance or suggestions you can offer.
Mark
