Monona,

I'm not in NY but I manage the hazardous waste on my campus. Two national companies not yet mentioned that probably service NYC are Clean Harbors and Stericycle.

Monona,

I used Rineco for aerosol disposal, as well as a variety of other wastes. They should have a sales representative in the region. They will need to have waste profiles (which may be challenging for this project!) for anything generated. I am not sure, however, if they have a team that can come on site. If you need a company that can come on site & do an assessment, I have had good experience with Veolia.

Monona,
Although we are a polymer company and not a art facility we use Rineco at 819 Vulcan Road, Benton, AR 72015 (800-377-4692). Although they are not physically in NYC they service the entire country and turn the waste into fuel for cement kilns rather than incinerating it unless the waste is reactive or certain hazardous.

Re: help finding a waste disposal service

I usually don't work in my own town (NYC) but I'm on the planning team for a large art facility that will be creating some interesting waste including the typical silver photo waste, oil paints, solvents, metal machining and casting wastes, resins, and printmaking waste, along with less common wastes from CNC and robo cutting and waterjet machining of many types of materials. A lot of the projects will be really large.

We would like some help finding a waste disposal company that services art schools and colleges in this area, is familiar with typical art wastes, and might be willing to answer some questions the planning group has about SAA containers and pick up procedures for this Brooklyn project so we can set up properly from the get go. The facility is past the Design Development planning stage and before construction documents are complete, we need some advice on how best to design this facility for ease of waste handling.

And that should also tell you how very special this project is. Usually waste handling is figured out after the first barrel full is rotting on the dock.
