Thanks to everyone for their examples of grassroots chemical safety improvements.
I think that the example of microscale chemistry is particularly interesting because it connects Green Chemistry concepts with chemical health and safety, as well as being an example of how changing technologies impacts traditional practices.
Ironically, in my experience, one of the leading reasons for not using Greener Chemistries was that EPA Standard Methods required the use of historical chemistries after safer approaches were identified. Perhaps that is a less important factor today than it was in the 1990's.
