Nuclear-Contaminated Site In Washington State: Information from the National Library of Medicine

NLM Toxicology and Environmental Health Info

The Hanford Site southeast of Seattle, Washington, a former nuclear production complex, has been in the news. The U.S.Department of Energy declared an emergency there after soil caved in over a portion of a tunnel containing rail cars contaminated with nuclear waste.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) TOXMAP provides information about the Hanford Site. For site information, click the "Superfund sites details" link in the "Map Details" section.

TOXMAP is a Geographic Information System (GIS) from the Division of Specialized Information Services of the US National Library of Medicine =AE (NLM) that uses maps of the United States to help users visually explore data from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and Superfund Program.

There are two versions of TOXMAP: a Flash-based version and TOXMAP classic.
