Good question. In general, there is no editorial screening of messages to the list. Once a month or so, a note that does not appear to be intended for public distribution appears in the queue and those I hold until I can check with the author about whether the message is appropriate for distribution. The other time that I will use editorial discretion is when a topic gives rises to many similar replies in a short period of time (a few hours); these might be collected into a single message to avoid reaching the daily maximum of 15 messages too quickly.
If neither of these reasons would seem to apply to your message, please contact me at secretary**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org to see if the message has shown up in the moderation queue. Spam filters can impact messages being sent out from a server as well as those coming into the server and it's possible that your message hasn't made it to the list. It is important for me to know about those instances so that I investigate these challenges.
I would also note that certain e-mail providers (gmail, aol, yahoo) trigger spam filters more easily than others so distribution of a specific message may not be uniform across the list. The most authoritative (if somewhat delayed) list of postings to the list can be found at
