I will send the various Z87.1 designations in our PPE training handout to you as an attachment off the list.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] ANSI eyeware designations
I have a question from a faculty member here:
===
So what is the legal
designation for students in chemistry labs for safety glasses. I thought it was
ANSI Z87.1, however the ones the Lyceum sells are Z87+; and I have a student
wants to know if just Z87 is legal.
===
My interpretation based on the
information I see on the web is that Z87.1 is the designation of the standard
and Z87 on the glasses indicate that they are tested for impact protection and
Z87+ protects for higher impact. Is that correct?
Thanks for any help with
this.
