At this time - we only require lab coats in the microbiology laboratories. (We are a 2 year school and only teach general chemistry from a chemistry aspect.) However, we are discussing lab coat in the biology, physiology, and anatomy laboratories. Not so much for safety as it is for decorum.

The rationale behind our choice is that we aren't using anything particularly hazardous. We have aprons available if needed.
