Neal,

Many lab workers don’t know what “Pilot’s Gloves” means, just that they don’t like ones that go halfway up their forearm.  Too bad as the thin surgical gloves don’t cover the wrist and are too thin to give much protection.  I’ve done thousands of organolithium and magnesium transfers but no spills or needle seeps (largely because I often use a needle valve for Luer-lock attachments).  I always wear the slightly thicker gloves that give me time, if needed, to grab the fingers and yank them off quickly.

Hope you get a lot of data to work with on this project.

Lee

I am looking for feedback – positive and negative – from actual users of “Pilot’s Gloves” for thermal protection when handling pyrophoric liquids.  I am also looking for incident reports of splashes to the hands when any gloves – or no gloves - are worn.

Responses off the list are OK and I will summarize what I get

Neal
