We use the large "floor model" cardboard broken glass boxes from Fisher Scientific. Each box has a heavy mil. plastic bag liner.
Bldg. services does not like to handle them and they have also asked us not to fill them more than 1/2-2/3 full because of weight. When they are filled to this level we close, twist, and tie off the bag, place the cardboard lid on the box, and then wrap all the way around the box with packing tape to keep it closed.
Someone from our lab or our work study lab assistants will dolly the boxes down to a designated pick up area. The reason for not filling to capacity has to do with the weight being excessive when the trash handler then picks up the container for disposal.
