From: Monona Rossol Well, I know what doesn't work. Although I still read the Federal Register and send comments at times, I've been doing this for decades and the agencies are less effective now and the laws are worse than when I started. Instead, I'm pounding home this message and stirring up as much discontent with the status quo among students and union members as I can. I'm working with other activist groups who are doing similar things. And I sense a growing discontent in young people as I travel and speak all over the country. And it is not just the chemical injustice I discuss. How dare we tell young people they can't get a decent job without a college education, then force them into massive debt to get that education, and when they graduate they find they can't make a living? Outrageous. The country isn't broke. The money is in the wrong places. I tried working with Occupy Wall Street. But that New York group was a dope-smoking, non-thinking, leaderless zoo. They wanted to believe that everyone was against them when half of the police and fire fighters were actually on their side. All they (and I) wanted them to do was to abate some of the safety, fire, and health hazards in their park so we could keep them down there safely. They saw every suggestion as a plot. The lesson is, if you want to start a peaceful revolution, you have to be intelligent enough to recognize your supporters. One day, there will be a bunch of smart kids who will have had enough. I hope to live long enough to help them. Monona Rossol, M.S., M.F.A., Industrial Hygienist
