A man, 36, was taken to St George Hospital in a critical but stable condition after a backyard chemical explosion at Engadine on December 30.
Police said the man was attempting to clean a backyard pool when chemicals were mixed, causing the explosion.
The man inhaled toxic gases and had trouble breathing.
Three people tried to help the man but they became ill after inhaling the gases.
They were taken to Sutherland Hospital.

Hawaii Island police have identified the 30-year-old Keaau man who died Thursday from injuries he suffered Dec. 28 in a butane honey oil lab explosion.
The victim has been identified as Rasi Summers, according to the Hawaii County Police Department. Summers was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. Thursday at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu.
The blast occurred Dec. 28 on 17th Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. Police found evidence of a lab used to manufacture butane honey oil at the scene. A 28-year-old woman, who lives at the home but was not there at the time of the explosion, was subsequently arrested and then released pending investigation.
Community members are asked to call the police department?s nonemergency line at 935-3311 if they know of any clandestine drug lab.

KEARNEY ? A Kansas woman was allegedly trying to make methamphetamine when a chemical concoction exploded and severely burned her in the car she and three other people were sitting in.
One of the occupants of the car, Levi M. Sanderson, 24, of Kearney was charged Friday in Buffalo County Court with felony manufacturing of meth in the Tuesday evening incident. Late Friday, he was being held at the Buffalo County Jail on 10 percent of a $200,000 bond. He must post $20,000 to be freed.
Court records outline the cases against Sanderson:
Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kearney Police Department officers were dispatched to a medical call at Sanderson?s home at 814 Ave C. There, they found Jayme Horacek, 26, of Almena, Kan., with severe burns to her body.
Through their investigations, police learned a one-pot meth lab had exploded inside Horacek?s1998 Ford Taurus while she and three other people were in the car.
A one-pot, or shake-and-bake, meth lab is a method in which ingredients used to make the drug are mixed in a bottle, shaken and made into meth.

SCHOOL EXPERIMENT THAT BURNED BOY WAS FOCUS OF FEDERAL WARNING

Only weeks before a chemistry experiment sent a plume of fire across a Manhattan high school science lab, engulfing two students and leaving one with life-threatening burns, a federal safety agency issued a video warning of the dangers of the very same experiment, a common one across the country.
Related
The agency, the United States Chemical Safety Board, distributed the video warning to its 60,000 subscribers, a spokeswoman, Hillary Cohen, said Friday, but it had no sure way to reach individual teachers at schools like Beacon High School on the Upper West Side. There on Thursday, Anna Poole, a young science teacher known for safety consciousness, used methanol as an accelerant to burn dishes of different minerals in the chemistry demonstration known as the Rainbow.
With about 30 students watching from their desks, a snakelike flame tore through the air, missing the students closest to the teacher?s desk, but enveloping Alonzo Yanes, 16, searing and melting the skin on his face and body, according to witnesses. He was in critical condition on Friday in the burn unit of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Myrna Manners, a hospital spokeswoman, said.

PHOENIX (CBS5) -
After nearly 12 hours, the cleanup of a potentially flammable ethanol leak at a Phoenix rail yard has ended.
Crews were using caution, water and foam trucks as they tried to control the leak from a Union Pacific Railroad tanker Friday.
Firefighters were called about 4 a.m. and told ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, was escaping the tanker car at a rate of about 100 gallons an hour, said Ruben Saavedra of the Phoenix Fire Department.
Saavedra said the tanker can hold up to 30,000 gallons.
Chris Ketterer with the Phoenix Fire Department said Friday afternoon they believe roughly 10,000 gallons leaked and 20,000 gallons have been recovered.

BEACON CHEMISTRY TEACHER FAULTED BY SAFETY EXPERT AFTER STUDENTS BURNED IN EXPERIMENT

She had to know she was playing with fire.
The Manhattan teacher whose botched science demonstration left two students badly burned ? and who apparently didn?t insist the kids wear protective gear ? should have known better, a top safety expert said Friday.
Anna Poole was handling highly combustible chemicals in her lab at The Beacon School, said Robert Morris, head honcho at the laboratory design company Flow Safe.
?What happened was highly probable, when you do anything like that,? Morris said. ?They have to be anticipating that this is going to happen, and you have to have the right safety equipment. The idea that this exploded is not unusual. Some of these chemicals can explode even without the introduction of fire."
Poole, an experienced chemistry teacher at the elite public high school, also should have been aware as she embarked on her ?rainbow experiment? of the American Chemical Society's publication ?Chemical Safety for Teachers and Their Supervisors.?
?Always, when hazardous chemicals are used or handled, when glassware is used or handled, when flames are involved, all persons present, whether or not they are doing the handling or using, must wear eye protection,? it states clearly on page five.
On the very next page of the safety guidebook for grades seven through 12, it adds, ?Keep in mind that the vapors of flammables ? can explode.?

AXIALL CONSULTANT CALCULATING CHEMICAL RELEASE

Work is underway to determine the quantity of chemicals released during a fire at the Axiall plant last month.
A consultant for Axiall is doing the math to find out exactly which chemicals and how much may have been released in a fire December 20th.
The information will help the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality decide if penalties should be imposed.
Axiall's preliminary report to DEQ tells what they know so far, about the fire last month.
It happened in the vinyl chloride plant south of Interstate 10 where three chemicals are involved in the process. The report says hydrochloric acid is generated from burning the other two, vinyl choride monomer and ethylene dichloride. Though no chemicals were detected offsite, the numbers of what was finally released must be calculated as Axiall spokesman Alan Chapple explained.

UPDATE: HIGHWAY 30 REOPENED AFTER AMES CHEMICAL SPILL

AMES, Iowa ? At approximately 11:35 a.m. today Ames Fire and Police Departments responded to the report of a chemical spill at Biova, 2325 North Loop Drive, at the ISU Research Park.
Once on scene, crews noted a gas plume originating from an above ground storage container and a nearby truck. The plume was drifting north toward U.S. 30. A decision was made immediately to redirect traffic off U.S. 30.
The Ames Fire Department misted the plume with water droplets to diminish its size. By
12:47 p.m., the plume had dissipated. Efforts were then redirected to the truck and the holding tank. The holding tank contains hydrochloric acid, and the truck was delivering sulfuric acid. Efforts continue to cap the tank and contain any possible release of gas.
Additional help was received by the ISU Police, Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa
Highway Patrol, and the Story County Sheriff's Office.
