Morning – You know that we always are worried about incidents that may injure individuals – and we think a bit about the aftermath as well.  Recently a place that I have worked at off and on for many years  - just had their admin building catch fire-  (over the MLK weekend).  Luckily no one was injured and it was considered a structural fire with no HAZMAT implications.  The fire is still under investigation –

But – it reminded me about document management for regulatory purposes – while most things will be in electronic form – there are the following things that will have an impact.

1)      It occurred in Jan when all of the annual regulatory reports are due – thus a bunch of paper records had not been converted to electronic yet nor had moved to off site storage.

2)      While the servers are backed up – don’t know yet how much was lost on personal pcs due to not moving files to the servers.

3)      Historic reference files – manuals, paper records, drawings, etc. are probably lost with little or no back up.

Soething to think about.
