BRISTOL/WARREN - An art class mishap turned into a 20
minute interruption, with fire, rescue and police responding to Mt. Hope
High School at 12:15 p.m. in response to a chemical spill. The spill, it
turned out, was a small container of mineral spirits used to clean a
student=92s paint brush in art class.
A student
in Room F124 accidentally knocked a small glass jar that contained two
or three ounces of mineral spirits to the floor, breaking the jar,
causing its contents to collect in a small puddle on the floor. As the
student began cleaning up the spilled liquid with paper towels, an
unidentified person pulled an alarm and the building was
evacuated.
Following protocol, and not immediately knowing the
nature of the spill, three fire trucks, one rescue and a medic truck, as
well as police were dispatched to the school.

chemicals.

engine.
