 The College of Health Sciences at Boise State University invites intereste
d
applicants for the position of Senior Safety & Health Consultant.  The
Senior Safety and Health Consultant position will provide occupational
safety and health consultation services to private employers throughout
Idaho.  Through inspection of workplaces, identification of hazards,
development of safety and health programs and issuance of reports to client
s
on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, the
consultant assists those clients in protection of their employees and
avoidance of enforcement actions by the federal compliance agency.  This
position relates primarily to industrial hygiene but may include
occupational safety work.  Travel is required 35% of the time.

*Responsibilities:*

=B7         Provide consultation services to statewide private-sector
employers regarding occupational safety and health laws (OSHA regulations).

=B7         Provide technical advice, assistance and training on correction
 of
hazards.

=B7         Develop effective workplace safety and health programs.

 *At a minimum you should have:*

=B7         Bachelor=92s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related fi
eld
or equivalent professional experience.

=B7         Five years experience in the same type of position.

=B7         Comprehensive working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations (29
CFR1900=92s, 29 CFR1910, and 29 CFR1926).

=B7         Extensive application of OSHA regulations in industrial/commerc
ial
settings, including the identification of hazards and solutions to hazardou
s
conditions.

=B7         Comprehensive working knowledge of OSHA=92s Consultation Polici
es
and Procedures Manual (CPPM).

=B7         Comprehensive working knowledge of OSHA=92s Safety and Health
Achievement Recognition program (SHARP).

=B7         Ability to develop and implement OSHA=92s 1989 Safety and Healt
h
Program Management Guidelines in a variety of business settings.

=B7         Demonstrated ability to conduct training of employers/employees
regarding OSHA regulations, safety and health programs, and safe work
practices, both on industrial sites and in a classroom environment.

=B7         Demonstrated experience in the use of industrial hygiene hazard
monitoring equipment, including air sampling pumps and sampling media,
direct-reading air quality instruments, and sound measurement instruments.

=B7         Valid driver=92s license.

 *The preferred candidate will have:*

=B7         Degree from an ABET accredited program in Industrial Hygiene or
related field or a Masters degree in a related field such as:  Safety,
Engineering, Environmental Health, Ergonomics, Health Physics, Toxicology,
Chemistry, Fire Protection, or Construction Safety.

=B7         Recent experience in OSHA/state consultation or compliance
program.

=B7         Experience with OSHA Integrated Management Information System.

=B7         Certificate from Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) through t
he
American Board of Industrial Hygiene and/or Certified Safety Professional
(CSP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

=B7         Completion of OSHA basic consultation training courses.

=B7         Substantial occupational safety and health training experience.

*Salary and benefits:  *$40,000 - $50,000 based on training and experience,
plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD
insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, 24 days vacation leav
e
and 12 days sick leave annually, plus 10 paid holidays, as well as other
benefits.
