Dear Chemists and other Lab Safety Professionals,
I’m interested in compiling a list of lab techniques that result in accidents or injuries.
The classic example is the insertion of a thermometer or glass tube through a rubber or cork stopper.
In the end I plan to steal or develop written guidance to address these techniques.
There is a real possibility “we” will be able to create short videos to teach folks the safe way to do this work.
To start, here are some ideas:
Bending glass
Creating capillary tubes
Running a flash column
Quenching a solvent drying still bottom
Storing chemicals (segregating by hazard class)opening micro centrifugation tubes without creating aerosols)
And many more…
Some existing videos from Aldrich are:

who knows, we might even be able to deliver videos them via
iPhones

I will compile the responses and place the list on our website
Thanks,
