Fire In Texas A&M Chemistry Building Under Investigation http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/51332137.html COLLEGE STATION (July 21, 2009)-- A small, but smoky fire Tuesday that forced the evacuation of the Texas A&M Chemistry Building on Ross Street is under investigation. Electrical service was cut off to the building as a result of the fire, which was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses reported heavy smoke coming from a laboratory on the third floor of the building. The source was a small sodium fire in one of the labs vent hoods, Bart Humphries of the College Fire Department told KBTX-TV. The fire triggered the building's sprinkler system discharging what officials said was a significant amount of water.
