The ACS, through the Committee on Chemical Safety and the Division of Chemical Health and Safety, is a partner with the US EPA on the School Chemical Cleanout Campaign (SC3). The EPA is holding a focus group in conjunction with the ACS national meeting. The objective of the focus group is to gather information about building partnerships to conduct responsible chemical management activities in K-12 schools. Nine participants are needed, but others can attend as observers. During the focus group, EPA would like to hear your thoughts on how you can lend your expertise toward creating safer learning environments for our future scientists. You will also have an opportunity to sign up to be on the SC3 Partners list during the focus group; however, the ability to undertake an SC3 project right now is not a prerequisite to participation in the focus group.
The focus group will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (with two 10 minute breaks). It will be in the Monroe Room of the Washington Plaza Hotel. If you are interested and willing to participate, please contact Rhonda Minnick of EPA as soon as possible by email at minnick.rhonda**At_Symbol_Here**epa.gov or on (703) 308-8771.
