Laboratory Research Assistant Dies of Burns from a Pyroph oric Chemical
The California Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (CA/FACE) program has published a new Worker Fat ality Alert -- a one-page report summarizing conditions that led to the fatal injury, recommendations (̵ 6;prevention points’), and links to more information. Worker Fatality Alerts provide timely preliminary information and are followed by a more comprehen sive fatality investigation report.
The most recent Worker Fatality Alert highlights the death of a laboratory research assistant who died when t-but yl lithium splashed onto her clothing and ignited, causing fatal burns. The Alert can be viewed at: www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/ohb-face/Documents/PyrophoricFatality.pdf
