I'm trying to peer into murky future and would appreciate thoughts from people associated with managing chemistry class laboratory settings (as opposed to research settings). I know that for a while, the goal in building new class labs was to have a fume hood available for each student or student pair. I wonder how common this has turned out to be and if that goal will continue into the future. Our current chemistry building class labs have three fume hoods for lab sections of 18 students and I wonder if this ratio is way out of date or if it's reasonable to expect this ratio to serve in the future. Thanks for any comments. - Ralph Ralph Stuart, CIH Environmental Safety Manager University of Vermont Environmental Safety Facility 667 Spear St. Burlington, VT 05405 rstuart**At_Symbol_Here**uvm.edu fax: (802)656-5407
