Last year LSI provided one of our Mini-Grants ($250) to a school science teacher in Ohio who wanted funds to run a "Lab Safety Fair". This is a sci ence fair where all the projects are on lab safety topics. The 24 high school students did eight lab safety projects and then took the projects to the ju nior high schools to teach lab safety to the younger students. Perhaps DCHAS would like to encourage this type of activity on a broader basis. It might be a good topic for an Innovative Projects Grant. The write-up/final report of the Lab Safety Fair Mini-Grant Project appears in the most recent issue of Speaking of Safety, LSI's newsletter. Anyone interest in talking further about this one? ... News on the ACS Divisional Innovative Project grants program Do you have a great idea for a Division activity that needs funding? There are TWO opportunities to apply for Innovative Project grants for 2009=E2=80=A6 one in the Spring (due February 1) and one in the Fall (due J uly 1). There is a limit of $7500 per grant, up to two totaling no more than $12,500 for each Division. Want to stage a Webinar? Have a great idea for a publication benefiting the Division? Need materials for a National Chemical Week event? Would you like to establish a scholarship for a Safety Undergraduate student? Want to put on an event at a Regional meeting? Here=E2=80=99s your chance=E2=80=A6.. 3. Survey results A summary of the results of the membership survey we recently completed. I haven't had a chance to throughly review the results and comments yet, but expect to develop a summary of the responses and plan of action based on them early in 2009.
