Several (many?) years ago I surveyed the catalogs of ACS approved  
departments and if I remember correctly only 25 of them had anything   
listed that could be considered a true laboratory safety class.  This  
should give you some idea about the answers you might receive to your  
question.  By the way, I created, and taught, such a course at the  
college I retired from.  The course was created about 1985.  I  
remember with pleasure one student happily reported she had been  
hired during her job interview because she was able to point out  
several safety problems she had seen during her tour of the plant.
