From a research lab perspective in pharmaceuticals, it would not make a difference when hiring since technical ability is paramount. I do think it is an excellent piece for every curriculum to have, and for all graduate advisors to be willing to enforce. The biggest safety problem we face with new employees is the loose quality of their safety training and expectations while in graduate school. They are continually amazed at the significantly higher level of concern in industry, particularly for PPE and appropriate lab attire. What I am requesting, is that those of you in industrial settings, could you let me know either my private email or to the list, how the industry looks/perceives a prospective employee that has taken such a class. Does it make any difference? Will it help to decide between two otherwise equal applicants? That sorta thing. I think that it would help when I make a formal request. The class would be a undergrad/grad level, 1 credit, probably two hours a week. Thanks for any help.... Gary Dr. Gary L.
