Group question: Does anyone know which calculation for the correlation of the result of acid number method and methylation method of fatty acid analysis is correct. I have been using Cs/Es where Cs is the acid number from the titration method and Es is the acid number of the sample. This is for determination of fatty acid percent in candle waxes. I have had a person tell me it doesn't matter which way you divide, however, I have found this to be incorrect. The method tolerance for the correlation is 0.8-1.20. the original calculation was done by an Asian lab and I have since modified to suit U.S. Customs requirements. If anyone has any paraffin or candle experience and can help me with this, please reply. Thanking you in advance, Charles Davis Research Scientist Bureau Veritas, Inc. 716/505-3300, ext.3345
