Earlier this week I discovered that the above meeting will be held on my campus Nov 5-7, 2003. The agenda does not include any safety related sessions. I suspect this is typical for regional meetings and is most likely due to the fact that no one has proposed a safety session when the planning for these meetings takes place. As a result, I am taking a band aid approach to the meeting this November. My staff and I will be preparing several posters for the Sci-Mix poster session. I would like to also encourage anyone who is interested in visiting Columbia, Missouri to likewise submit posters for this meeting (see announcement at http://www.chem.missouri.edu/MWRM2003), which must be done by Sept. 5. In addition, I discovered that next year's ACS Midwest Regional Meeting will be held at Kansas State U. I have already made an initial contact to see if we can get a safety session on that agenda. I know some DivCHAS members have organized safety symposia and/or posters for regional and local ACS meetings. I am interested in any experiences you have had about what worked well and what did not. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you have. Peter Ashbrook, Director Environmental Health and Safety University of Missouri-Columbia
